The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) 2025 Annual Meeting is quickly approaching, being held in partnership with the Canadian Society for Clinical Chemistry (CSCC). This year’s event aims to ‘bring the wonder’ to their community of lab medicine leaders, promoting connection and countless opportunities to learn about breakthrough areas of laboratory science, including AI, nanotechnology, mass spectrometry, diagnostic discovery, and more.
Here’s what you need to know about this year’s event at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois, July 27-31.
General Topics
This year’s program includes Plenary Sessions, cutting-edge Scientific Sessions, Special Competitions, and a packed Poster Hall. There will also be two ticketed events: intimate Roundtable discussions and ADLM University Courses. Plus, the Clinical Lab Expo will provide even more opportunities to explore technologies, services, and solutions for lab-related needs.
Topics for the various sessions include:
- Animal Clinical Chemistry
- Automation and Analytical Techniques
- Cardiac Markers
- Clinical and Diagnostic Immunology
- Data Analytics, Informatics, and Statistics
- Endocrinology and Metabolism
- General Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine
- Hematology and Coagulation
- Laboratory Management and Patient Safety
- Lipids, Lipoproteins, and Cardiovascular Risk Factors
- Mass Spectrometry and Separation Sciences
- Microbiology and Infectious Disease
- Molecular Diagnostics and Genetics
- Pediatric and Maternal Fetal Medicine
- Point-of-Care Testing
- Proteomics and Protein Markers
- Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Toxicology
- Tumor Markers and Cancer Diagnostics
Because some of the sessions occur at the same time, we recommend utilizing the online ADLM Annual Meeting session search tool to plan your schedule to make sure that you’re able to attend the sessions that most closely relate to your interests.

Plenary Sessions
There will be five thought-provoking Plenary Sessions led by world-renowned experts during ADLM 2025, with one lecture scheduled for each day of the conference. The Plenary Sessions include:
- Global strategies to advance genomic medicine (Heidi L. Rehm, PhD, FACMG)
- Artificial intelligence in real world clinical settings (Judy Wawira Gichoya, MD, MS, FSIIM)
- Infodemic! Is misinformation killing us? (Timothy Caulfield, CM, LLM, FRSC, FCAHS)
- Precision microbiome medicine: Identifying diagnostics and treatments (Jack Gilbert, PhD)
- The urgent threat of plastics to human health, and what we can do about it (Leonardo Trasande, MD, MPP)
Scientific Sessions
Nearly 70 Scientific Sessions will take place throughout ADLM 2025. These sessions will include a variety of education formats, presentation styles, and opportunities for audience engagement. Each session will be 90 minutes long and feature groups of experts presenting on topics across all aspects of laboratory medicine.
Special Competitions
There will be two Special Competitions at ADLM 2025. First, ADLM’s Disruptive Technology Award Competition will feature three diagnostic developers who will present data on their unique technologies. Their presentations will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges, focusing on the feasibility and performance of the tech. The audience will also be able to vote for their favorite innovation, making the session even more engaging.
The other competition is the Student Research Awards Competition. Students and post-doctoral fellows who are presenting authors of accepted poster abstracts for the ADLM 2025 meeting will showcase their research, and judges will evaluate their posters. The top scorers will compete in the Student Oral Presentation Competition. This competition is a great way for newer members of the community to get their name and research into the limelight.
Poster Hall
In addition to the posters from students and post-docs, there will be over 700 poster presentations in an open access hall. Poster topics will span across all topics of laboratory medicine and feature groundbreaking research. Poster presenters will be available for discussion during unopposed presenter discussion periods, allowing for direct connection and networking.
Ticketed Events
ADLM 2025 will have two different types of ticketed events: Roundtables and ADLM University Courses. The one-hour Roundtables allow small groups (up to 10 participants) to engage in discussions with presenters to learn and ask questions. Each Roundtable is presented twice to allow more participants to connect with the featured presenters. Topics for these discussions focus on practical skills and case examples.
The ADLM University Courses are either 3- or 6-hour workshop-style courses that are highly interactive. Groups of 30-50 participants may enroll in each course, and they can expect hands-on exercises and tutorials in small group formats with a focus on the practical application of crucial skells for career advancement.
Clinical Lab Expo
Finally, the ADLM 2025 Clinical Lab Expo will give attendees the chance to explore over 800 exhibitors excited to showcase their technologies, services, and solutions. Some notable exhibitors include:
- Abbott
- Bio-Rad Laboratories
- Danaher
- Illumina
- LabCorp
- Roche Diagnostics
- Thermo Fisher Scientific
- Watchmaker Genomics
We’re looking forward to connecting with familiar faces from Ambient Biosciences, Atila BioSystems, Aviva Systems Biology, Indigo BioAutomation, Molecular Designs, and SOPHiA GENETICS.
The digital display at the Product Showcase booth will highlight cutting-edge product and services, and there will also be a handful of 20-minute lecture series presentations right in the exhibit hall. For those looking for some friendly competition, the ADLM Scavenger Hunt and ADLM Laboratory Feud will provide opportunities for extra excitement.
The Expo Hall will feature coffee breaks each morning, as well as an ice cream social on Tuesday afternoon, allowing casual networking with the potential to spark future collaborations. ADLM members will also be able to enjoy the ADLM member lounge to relax, recharge, and chat with like-minded peers.
